Foreign Editions of Wanna See A Penguin?

Wanna See A Penguin?, my latest picture book with Oxford University Press, marvellously illustrated by Ian Smith, published back in April this year.

It’s a really fun book all about animal recognition, and is (vaguely) educational - I certainly learnt lots about penguins when doing my research before writing it! Here are three of my favourite facts about them:

And here are the covers for some of the co-editions secured so far by the brilliant rights team at OUP:

The Danish, Portuguese, Finnish and Chilean editions of Wanna See A Penguin?

It’s always great to receive news of foreign rights deals. Not only do these contribute towards earning out the advance received for the book, it’s proof that the story has appeal in many different countries. I love the thought that something that originated in my mind is now being enjoyed (hopefully!) by children across the world!

Knowing that they’re out in the wild is thrilling too. Here’s evidence of Wanna See A Penguin? - or, more accurately, Queres Ver Um Penguin? - on shop bookshelves in Lisbon, Portugal, including at the airport (kindly sent to me by Regina Irwin of the OUP Rights team)!
